About us
Dr. Jeff Johnston’s journey in dentistry started early—literally from the patient’s chair. As a child, he faced numerous dental treatments to correct an impacted front tooth, including several surgeries and years in braces. Those experiences gave him a firsthand understanding of the challenges and fears patients can face, and by the age of 12, he knew dentistry was his calling.
Dr. Johnston pursued his passion at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he combined his studies with four years of dental mission trips to Mexico. These trips were more than just volunteer work; they were formative experiences that allowed him to develop hands-on skills while providing care to underserved communities. Before graduating in 2003, he also completed an internship at the Brownsville Community Health Clinic on the Texas–Mexico border, treating patients with complex dental needs and deepening his commitment to compassionate, comprehensive care.
In 2008, Dr. Johnston founded Ascent Dental Group with the vision of creating a welcoming dental home in Denver—one where patients feel heard, comfortable, and confident in their treatment. He believes that the foundation of great dentistry is a strong doctor-patient relationship built on trust, clear communication, and mutual respect.
