Part of it Depends on your financial situation. I went with 8 snap in
Do you have any regrets?
How much was 8 snap in…if you dont mind me asking
Pat B. Everything was 14,000. 25 extractions 8 snap in implants 8 abutments premium a1 dentures
Matt H. that’s good. There’s so much to know about it. I’m paying $13,647.00 for two top crowns with fake teeth and a removable bottom partial. I have no idea what material the teeth are. After reading these comments I think I need to do some research.
Screws because they are hidden in the gums, planted deep into the bone, the fail rate is less, general speaking they hold up better, easier to clean, and they teeth look more natural – they just cost more.
Catherine G. how much more
Pat B. IDK, because it depends on so many factors and you might have to see two different dentist for consultations. My dentist doesn’t do snap in.
Catherine G. what did you get
Pat B. I have screws but the implants were put in as the 6 RCs failed over 10 yrs. I would have much preferred the implants and an upper plate all at the same time. One implant, extraction, bone graft and a crown was $6,000.
Catherine G. where do you live?
Pat B. CA
Catherine G. I’m in ontario canada
Pat B. Shop around — it is a process
Neither. Cement retained
Merve A. ?
Merve A. definitely not. My temps were cement retained, my finals are screw retained. No way I’d ever want to go back to cement
Rachel J. temps are temps. You know they should come off when dentist need them to. The number of implants and type of abutments differ from cement retained permanents. Your experience with them is probably different than a planned one.
Merve A. I’ve also had cemented bridges on my natural teeth. No thanks to further cement.
Rachel J. thats your personal view. I have done more than a dozen of both and so far Im happier with Cement retained, feedback from patients.
Merve A. probably because you don’t have the skill to do screw-retained the same way. Mine are screw-retained but just teeth, the same way you’d do cement-retained crowns or bridges. Took a lot of work to get the hardware in the front teeth in the right place, according to my prosthodontist, but I would always prefer to have them easily removable than not.
Rachel J. wow. Look at the arrogance. See me when you swallow the screw accidentally 10 years from now.
Merve A. how do you clean around those though? And what if there’s issues?
Alex S. you’re SOL if they’re permanently cemented and they break while trying to remove them. Even if they never need to come off, you’d better hope that your dentist was super careful in not allowing any excess cement to remain, which may irritate the gums.
Rachel J. that’s my thoughts. How the hell do you get down in there to clean around the implant. I had crowns and bridges and it was a bitch to get underneath those, I can’t even imagine cemented on bridges to implants.
Alex S. clean? Its like normal teeth. Nothing else. You take them out like they are crowns.
Merve A. I am just curious because I have a cement retained crown on an implant on my front tooth that I want to get replaced. Will cutting it off damage the implant itself?
Jen M. crowns are all on X bridges are different. But the drills we use cant cut titanium so no.
Merve A. Thank you! Yes this is for a single implant.
Merve A. Prosthetic screws are half the size of a grain of rice lol. Not a very convincing argument to not go screw-retained.
Mike O. enough for me. Also apparently forgot to mention the slur caused by the bulkiness of the bridge while speaking.
I went with screw in as I wanted them a natural as possible, which means not having to take them in and out. I love my teeth, knowing that they are in my mouth permanently until a dentist takes them out, which is once a year for a thorough cleaning. Here is a page from G4 on the difference between snaps, traditional Aon4/6 and G4, which is what I have. I could not be happier and worth every cent. https://g4bygolpa.com/cost/
Fixed can’t take out total cost 9,000 in Costa Rica ! Happy with my decision!
I have all on 5 top and bottom. I had to get special long screws in mine because apparently I am wiggly and lost a few screws along the way between maintenance days. Still worth it
It all boils down to your personal preference and your budget. The screw in are typically made of higher quality (zirconia / porcelain) and are in there permanently and only removed for cleanings by your dentist. Downside is cost, its much more expensive than snap ins. With snap ins, it’s a higher quality of acrylic and you can snap it on and off the implants to clean, etc.
I heard that a water pik makes it easy to clean underneath and around the implant. I’m getting mine screwed in to where the dentist is the only one able to take them out.
Keilah F. snap
Screw retained obvious
I thought this was a dental implant page. What’s up with the sex question? 😛
