Pink or no pink? My son is getting close to the end of this long process after implants / bone graft.. he will be having 3 top front crowns (individual). His oral surgeon that worked on implants said she would recommend him getting longer teeth as opposed to adding pink, her argument being that pink will be a lot harder to keep it clean and my son is not very good at cleaning thoroughly consistently. I didn’t hear the Prosthodontist mention that as inconvenient..he talked about both possibilities and said we would decide after oral surgeon uncovers his implants to see how it all looks.. my husband thinks it would be weird to have long teeth with no pink (even though no one would notice it when he smiles). I guess we will see what the Prosthodontist recommends but was wondering if anyone has any thoughts/experience about the difference between the two?

Dental implant are supposed to mimic the natural tooth in appearance and function.
I would suggest you tell the DENTIST to ensure the tooth looks real even it means adding pink gum to it.
You’ve spent a huge sum of money in getting his teeth fixed so they should also play their own role well in ensuring your son/daughter likes it (Patient satisfaction).
As regards him being unable to take care of it well, they should teach him how to and as the mother, you can also do a follow-up and ensure he does it right.
Emenike M. Spot on comment
Emenike M. makes sense, thanks.. except that as for helping him to make sure he follows up that’s a tough one since he is 19 yo and will be away at college..
Andrea M. You need to make him see reason(s) he should take his oral hygiene serious.
He’s already 19 and an adult.
He’s very lucky to have you as his mom.
Have you discussed with him as regard the issue, What does he think about having long tooth?
Emenike M. I don’t think he is sure about that, hard to tell without seeing how that will look like. We’ll see what the Prosthodontist says, he is the expert, in my view the oral surgeon’s opinion on that regard is not more relevant..
What? I’m so glad my dentist has known me for many years to know what my natural teeth look like. I’m still going to look like me with better teeth.
Who in this group has had 4 on 6 full implants done in Louisiana or Texas…If so how was the experience? If it’s not too personal a range in the cost
The dental school in New Orleans can do whole mouth snap in dentures for about $12k. I am planning to go to golpa in Dallas this month. They charge $31,500.
Christian F. is the facility in Dallas better choice the the school in New Orleans
Christian F. yea but how many implants is the question? They can do those snap ins dentures with just 2 on the top 2 on the bottom. Im in the process of getting those myself im getting 4 on the top and 3 on the bottom for around that price in pittsburgh. But there is other varibles that go into it also you can get porcelain dentures or cheap plastics. Find out all the details before u sign up.
Dennis D. you can get porcelain and 4 on the top is enough for snap ins but id assume it depends on location
