We just noticed on the monthly report where you can see productions and incomes, the numbers were different after we reprint them two months later. Have anyone noticed this happening ?
For example, on one of the providers sheet, it showed $70,010 in incomes for the month Dec 1-31,2020 we printed the report in say Jan 14, 2021. Then we printed the same report on March 4. 2021, the incomes for the same period Dec 1-31, 2020 has changed to $78,060 !! We called the support at Open Dental today and asked for an explanation, they did not know why either. Any one has had this problem ?

If insurance payments were collected at a later date but for a procedure billed for that month, my assumption would be that’s the reason for the discrepancy?
Rehan S. in your explanation, if insurance payments were received in March 2021 for the procedures done in Dec 2020, the incomes were not reflected in March 2021 but rather reflected in Dec 2020?
Lawrence L. I think so? I could be wrong. But in this sense it shows a more accurate production/collection. Or a month where insurance is collected that’s different from the procedure date would reflect over 100% collections
Insurance adjustments for sure. Possible unallocated income was allocated.
Monica W. I think you are in the right track. What we did when we received prepay money (say $5,000) in Dec 2020 from a patient for a procedure to be done in March 2021 by an associate dentist (say Dr A), the money was assigned to the principal dentist (say Dr P) first. Then when Dr A completed the procedure in March 2021, the money will attached to that procedure under Dr A in March 2021. Should this be done this way? Or any other suggestions?
So if unallocated incomes were allocated in the month of March 2021 for a procedure done in Dec 2020, the collections in Dec 2020 will change ?
Hi Lawrence (you’re in Calgary aren’t you?). We had the same thing. You need to set global lock to prevent things being changed after a month ends! We set it monthly. You can also do daily. It is in security settings.
