Not one thing I dislike. The reminders, new patient forms, health updates, email blasts, texting. Seriously one of the best programs & makes my day 100% easier!
We love Flex! Customer service is the very best of any vendor we have ever worked with. Highly recommend.
We love flex! The only dislike I have is that we can’t bulk text (we like to send a mass text to all overdue recall a couple times a month if we have multiple openings), other than that, we love everything about it!
Lena L. short version: I hear ya, there’s unfortunately just no way to legally implement that.
Long version: While that’s something really easy to build, and we do obviously allow automated recall and texting patients on certain days or on the ASAP list, there’s unfortunately just no way we can implement bulk texting in a legal way. Anything that could be construed as marketing would be a violation of the TCPA, and both the doctor and Flex would be on the hook, which can be thousands of dollars per text message. So for a single blast to a thousand patients, you can be looking at north of a million dollars in penalties.
Companies that have allowed it have been operating under the assumption that they can hide behind their terms and conditions and force the practice to eat the lawsuit on their own. More recently, that shield doesn’t look like it’s been working, and we really don’t want to be building things that we know will land someone in hot water and act like it’s not our problem.
Beyond that, the carriers have really cracked down on spam in the last couple years. Lawsuits aside, any real bulk text is going to likely be caught and filtered after a certain point, because they don’t want that traffic going to their customers.
Brennon D. – how do we text the ASAP list? Is there a way to do it straight from Flex? We have been doing it individually just by going to the ASAP list in open dental and then sending each a text through flex. Am I missing something?
Lena L. Sure! So if you open up your text messages and click on ‘text a group’, you’ll see an option there that says ASAP list. Just click that and we’ll pull those patients in. I’d also be happy to have the support team reach out to give you hand if you’d like.
Brennon D. – but it will send to all on the ASAP list? Is there a way to sort based on appointment type?
Brennon D. Clearly you work at Flex. We just signed up last week. I’m extremely impressed with the software and your team. You guys put together a great product. Great job! It’s super cool you post like you did above. Thank you! We were wondering this exact question today and your answer makes so much sense. Thanks again for the awesome support as of late. You guys have updated our forms several times for us and have been amazing
John W. – yes! They really are. We’ve been using flex for a while now and absolutely love it and their team
John W. the Flex team is by far the BEST customer service of ALL dental softwares!!!! We have 4 offices and LOVE Flex!!! Thank you Brennon D.!!
Brennon D. What about an email blast that we would like to send to all of our patients? I feel that we have been having trouble trying to do that. When we had lighthouse, it was very easy to do. Is there an easy way to do this through Flex? We currently now have Flex of course.
Nathan B. You absolutely can do that via FlexBlast. We have templates you can use/alter or you can build your own. You can also filter who you send it to based on When they were last seen, when (or if) they have an upcoming appointment, whether or not they have insurance, and a variety of other factors. Feel free to reach out to our support team if you’d like some guidance there!
Only downside is the family billing feature (which is new) is a bit difficult to use since you can’t search, you have to scroll through all the patients to find people. Plus side is literally everything else. Their treatment planning feature is amazing.
We love it and have integrated flex pay as well! Super user friendly
Have you looked into Modento?
We switched from flex to Modento.
The biggest selling point was Mass communication (via email and text), voice message drops, patient app, etc) & it was cheaper
We are new to flex, but quickly discovering that it is not the best fit for our office. Mainly for statements. Was just told by rep that “it’s not going to make the office’s job any easier, it’s to get office paid faster” I can’t get the office paid faster if it takes me three times as long to do statements.
Be careful you like it because they now suck you into a 12 month contract. Their sales tactics are misleading and they will hold you to the contract even if your just a few weeks in a realize it’s a bad fit for you. In our pediatric dental practice flex was far superior. Modentos customer service now is awful. They make you work for an appointment that is scheduled a week out. Makes getting things do or changed hard to impossible.
