Average Cost of Bridges

Whats the average cost of bridges. I have a crown that doesn’t have much tooth structure to bond to. I don’t think I am going to be able to come up with the amount needed for an implant. My dentist doesn’t do anything to this nature. However he does refer me out, but the prices he throws out to me seem high. He said 1 implant would start at $3500 and go to $6k-$7k. He said the bridge for 1 missing tooth to connect to 2 other teeth would start at 2k. I feel defeated!

  1. I just got that same exact news today…. I know that is the implant range as I got one 1 year ago. I went with a mini implant it was 4500 as it was an upper. My new area is a lower and that would be 7000.00 Tawnee L.

  2. I would advice you don’t do bridge because the Dentist will tamper with your neighbouring tooth hence making them susceptible to decay and infection.
I would advice you get removable denture as a result of your current financial problem.
The advantage of Denture over bridge is, they won’t tamper with your healthy adjacent tooth.
When you are financially buoyant, Go for Dental implant.
Bridge And Denture doesn’t stop bone loss but implant does.

    1. Emenike C. I second the vote against bridges. Mine lasted less than 4 years because the 2 teeth it was attached to had problems. One had to be pulled & the other was getting loose (fingers crossed it’s ok once we removed the bridge). Of course no one tells you this stuff when you get it done 😞

    2. Emenike C. I wondered if it would eventually harm the other 2 teeth. I obviously have horrible strength in my teeth. I have always been told I have excellent hygiene, even told to be a little less attentive to brushing so often and flossing. I get obsessed with it! But, every time I turn around there’s another tooth going bad. Its humiliating! I am in the medical correctional field and I feel like trash going to work with only half of my teeth and now a front tooth missing. I don’t feel worth anything now.

      1. Crystal H. Dental implants are placed into your jawbone, it integrate to your jawbone and provide the constant stress and stimulation it needs to maintain itself.
The position where the real tooth once sat, implant stimulates the bone hence preventing bone loss.

      1. Crystal H. I know probably implants are better maybe but I couldn’t afford implants but I could afford a bridge so that was my only choice cuz I wasn’t going to go toothless

    1. Angie W. yeah know what you mean…. tough decisions… I just hate to grind down teeth…. ugh! But hate to spend 1-2 years paying off an implant! Thank you for sharing…. entering into the new phase of getting OLD

      1. Crystal H. I am very happy with my bridge it was a good decision for me at least I can eat whatever I want

      1. Crystal H. from what I understood him saying was for the bridge, it would have to be much grinding. There would be much more tooth structure vs a normal crown.

      2. Crystal H. no, the support teeth are minimized all the way around, like a crown. The support teeth just aren’t taken down as much. So, for visualization purposes…only 75% vs 25% I am completely making up these numbers, just using for an example.

        1. Tawnee L. There’s something called Enamel.
          All natural tooth has ENAMEL.
Before adjacent tooth(s) can be used as an anchor for a BRIDGE, it needs to be shaved down, The process of shaving down this healthy tooth, most of the enamel is taken down.
Tooth enamel is the substance that forms a shell around the top of every tooth. It is an extraordinarily hard substance that is specifically designed to protect the teeth from damage.

        2. Tawnee L. Are you aware that most patients who has undergone Dental bridge procedure has ended up loosing their adjacent tooth that anchored the bridge in the long run?

          1. Emenike C. I clearly wasn’t aware of much, hence my purpose of joining this wonderful group. I know of the situations I have been in and having a bridge placed isn’t one of them. However, I for some reason and feeling like you are coming off aggressive and abrasive. Whats going on buddy? Did you have a bad experience with a bridge? Are you having a bad day? Whats the real issue? I feel if I could hear you speak what you’re writing, then you wouldn’t be using your inside voice.

          1. Emenike C. this is 100% true. Giving knowledge to others isn’t a bad thing. I appreciate that from anyone. I apologize if I took your words in the wrong manner.

          2. Emenike C. no, I completely apologize for taking it in an aggressive manner. I believe it was a communication error, please forgive me. 🙃

  3. I used what’s called a flipper for years. I loved it. My other teeth just got bad due to genes

      1. Crystal H. just didn’t want a partial taking it in and out and I don’t see it being great with eating

        1. Linda L. ok, thank you. That is what the root canal dentist recommended. But they have to grind down 2 good but older teeth… which made me rethink it all. Am i understanding it correctly?

          1. Crystal H. yes you are actually I was ok with that they both had fillings in them just knowing my mouth I just know a implant wouldn’t work and being too worried about sinus issues

          2. Crystal H. and only first day seems ok so far only have temp on fingers crossed and too add I hate teeth and dentist are way overpriced for a piece of plastic or a screw

    1. Rosetta S. I thought a flipper was basically a veneer. It goes over existing teeth to make them look better, right?

  4. Just had a bridge put in yesterday and for the one tooth missing it cost 2,300 but I didn’t want a implant way to expensive and they do fail

    1. Linda L. One of mine failed but they are covered, replaced N/C … Thank Goodness ! 😊

  5. Starting to believe all dentists are uncaring thieves and only interested in running to the bank. So (above post) …. he said 1 implant would start at $3.5K and go to $6k-$7k ….. lots of room to rip you off !! He must be getting a hefty commission for referring you.

    1. Glenda S. thats exactly what I was thinking. Does this implant brush and floss its nearby buddies?

  6. Dentists are just way too expensive, period !!! Thats why you see so many ppl putting things off and then things just get worse. I finally broke down & got the implants. Love them but it was way, way too costly !!!!! Seda Dental ~ Dr. K ….😊

    1. Frankie L. if I happened to have the money, even if it’d leave me broke, I’d do it. I would love to have perfect teeth, no pain, near fear of breaking or loosing the.. that would be the dream.

  7. I know how you feel I’m going thru the same stuff right now. I don’t know what to do either if ya figure out plz let me know

        1. Susanne D. big question I only have temp will the permanent one be different this feels like plastic lol

          1. Linda L. IT SHOULDN’T! It should feel like a normal crown, like a tooth, just cleaner edges. IMO

            1. Tawnee L. I still think I have the taste of the impression shit in my mouth lol yes I have brushed my teeth

    1. A one tooth Bridge? Are you using 2 additional crowns for support or a bracket sort of thing?

    1. Roxie F. I have been back weekly to have them replaced. There’s not much tooth structure left, its going to get to the point where it won’t hold.

        1. Linda L. its a temp, do thats a good thing! It can probably be put back in place until the new ones are done.

  8. Upper front /buck tooth decayd, finaly crackd off. Dentist recomnds a bridge, didnt do Implants, guess thts why he nvr mentiond one. Fast talkin salesman….Iv always respected proffesionals…DRs Dentists etc…he went 2 teeth on each side of void 5 tooth bridge. Looks great wouldnt stay cemented in….lower teeth contact was knocking it out….When its out all i have up there in front is 4 little tiny baby Nubs…Terrible xperience still suffering…If i had investigtd or researchd i would hv paid for the 1 implant…Now I hv 4 baby nubs where dentist ground dwn the enamel to support the bridge….depressing & sad….lifelong mistake…cant afford the 5 tooth implant i would need

Our Story

Dental Country was born out of a simple yet profound idea: to bridge the gap between dental professionals and the public by providing an all-encompassing platform for dental knowledge. Founded in 2013 by Dr. Sean Myran, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dental Country started as a response to the growing need for a reliable and comprehensive online resource where both dental professionals and everyday people could find trustworthy, accurate, and well-researched information about dentistry and oral health.

Dr. Myran had witnessed first-hand the complexities faced by dental professionals, from managing successful practices to staying up-to-date with the latest dental technology and products. At the same time, he noticed how challenging it was for patients to find accurate, digestible information about dental procedures, oral hygiene products, and how to choose the right dentist. This dual perspective inspired him to create Dental Country, an online space that could cater to both audiences.

What started as a small blog quickly grew into a multifaceted platform with a wide range of dental resources—from practice management tips to in-depth product reviews and educational articles on oral health. Over the years, Dental Country has expanded its offerings to meet the evolving needs of dental professionals and patients alike. Today, it is one of the most trusted names in dental content, recognized for its dedication to quality, transparency, and accessibility.

Located in Lake Forest, CA, Dental Country has reached thousands of readers across the country and continues to grow. Through collaboration with dental experts, product reviewers, and a passionate team of healthcare copywriters, Dental Country has remained committed to its mission of providing well-rounded, authoritative dental content that helps everyone—from seasoned dental practitioners to families looking to improve their oral health.
