Steven G. thank you! I’m in the process of getting an implant on tooth #13 but undecided on which one. Oral surgeon only has Nobel Active and Strauman and said he will place Nobel Active bc it #13 🤷🏽♀️ and said zirconia have a higher failure rate 🤷🏽♀️ then I saw a biological dentist and she said she only places ceramic but I never asked her what brand I just assumed it was only one 🤦🏽♀️

Mia C. awww gotcha I’m understanding now and makes sense. My gums are in perfect health 🙏🏽 the reason for an implant is bc I had a failed rootcanal with a chronic infection I wasn’t aware about 😩 until one day the crown fell with some of the tooth itself! All of my teeth are pretty straight, never wore braces!Both Oral surgeon and biological dentist recommended extraction. A bone graft was also recommended, I was told it was a one piece for either titanium and ceramic!

Mia C. hmmm when I asked the oral surgeon he said he only uses Strauman and Nobel. He said bc of location #13 the Nobel Active was the best for me 🤷🏽♀️. To be honest I had no idea I had an infection, no pain or discomfort whatsoever! Except constant headaches and now I know why. I’m glad that crown fell off 🙏🏽 bc I would of never known and would of caused all sorts of symptoms even go systemic 😱and yes I believe the rootcanal was drilled too deep! It sure looked like it on the x-ray. And of course the dentist that did it would never take fault for that 😡🤦🏽♀️ I’m also thankful that it didn’t effect any of my nerves or sinus 🙏🏽 but need to decided ASAP. On what I want get. Titanium or ceramics by a biological dentist

Diana D. what I want to know is, are there different brands of Zirconium? One better than others! I will be calling the Biological dentist on Monday and will now ask what brand she uses!
Rilis R. yes definitely ask the brand. There are different brands of zirconia implants. Zirconia has been approved by FDA since 2011. Z systems is the ceramic and zirconia implant. The way my dentist explained is that he felt z systems had the longest duration of studies, but all ceramic implants are not around as long as titanium and the percentage of randomized clinical trials is less because of that.
I would always choose metal free for myself because I’m so sensitive and allergic. I haven’t tried any implants yet because I’m trying to gather research on what would work best 1 piece or 2 piece.

I can never be certain which company has the most efficacy or has provided the dental office with trainings etc. I want to get the most information before I place any implants. I have autoimmunity issues and terrified I’m going to make the wrong decision.

Jesus E. This is outdated. Ceramic implants of 30 years ago DID fracture -they were aluminum oxide, they were one piece, and they were pressed powder. Modern Zirconia implants are now 2piece, screw retained and eliminate the lateral forces. Modern ceramic implants are made of ZIRCONIA and the process of manufacturing Bio-HIP zirconia eliminates the risk of fracture.

I said that you have to search those articles in the ITI study club they have a lot of articles when they study the oseointegration with the bone, zirconia implants have many fails with integration in the past and fractures, the only thing good with zirconia is that is a good material to control the bacterias but they don’t have enough studies about the durability . It’s a hard material that doesn’t have flexibility cuz the material is so hard the same thing with the abutments of zirconia.

Both of your points, directly contradicted in one paragraph by Straumann…

Here is the Snow – It was available in Europe – Im not sure if it remains available. This is marketed with a Ceramic screw or optional titanium screw… I have only seen this product one time – It was in Zurich at a Ceramic Implant meeting in 2019. At that time, the ceramic screw was not yet available and only a titanium screw was available.

Mia C. I am BIASED! My company Zeramex USA specializes in 2 piece zirconia implants. Zeramex has only made 2 piece systems for 15 years in Zurich. The two piece design is easier for repeatable solutions for the existing implant surgeon. Most modern implant surgeons are very successful and familiar with a 2piece design. If your surgeon has experience and your restorative doctor are ok with the limited restorative options – Im sure it will be fine. The Straumann implant is not Bio-HIP zirconia so the implant can not be modified… Placement has to be perfect.
Mia C. yes however my dentist is amazing and told me to do my research. He says there is still a small portion of metal in all zirconia implants. It was a specific ingredient he told me to research. My sister is a Hygienist in Canada and her Dentist also warned me of holistic doctors making claims that are just not true. I feel my Dentist is being very honest with me. Just do your research and do what you feel comfortable with.
Yes I agree with someone above. Go to experienced Dentist that place zirconia implants. I just had my zirconia implant placed on tooth #7 (front lateral) on Wednesday. My EndoDentist specialist has tried several different types of zirconia. He is extremely picky and will ONLY use one piece Straumen. He tried using two piece but there was a higher risk of fracture and no longer uses it. He also says that often with two piece, there is a metal screw that attaches them which is questionable when doing a nonmetal alternative.

I just had my first implant on a front tooth and won’t get the crown placed in 3 months so I have an Essex (because mine is a one piece so it sticks out).
Pain for me was actually not too bad. It is my fourth day now and I’ve had no pain meds!

Michael F. yes I take vitamin D (5,000), vitamin K2, magnesium, silica everyday since my first implant couldn’t be placed to not enough dense bone. He sewed me back up and made me wait 4 more months. Re-implant took so far. It has only been 5 days.

I have had if for 3 years now. I will tell you, if you really want the best, what I wish I would have gotten, it is Bioimplant. I would have had to fly to Austria for it. I wish I had done it.

BioImplant is definitely a great alternative to traditional implants since it preserves the PDL. I had a first molar fracture during Covid due to Bruxism and wanted to get the BioImplant procedure done in Austria, but couldn’t make it there. I was able to talk a dentist into performing the procedure who was outside FDA zones where I’m located. It ended up not osseointegrating due to imperfections in the socket from a slight periapical abscess along with keratinized mucosa growing partially into the socket. Now I’m back to having to make a choice between a zirconia or titanium traditional implant.

The most common 2 piece implant from zsystems uses Cement or Glue to hold a peg style abutment and the implant together – this one is metalfree but does have very problematic cement. They do advertise a new implant and market a ceramic screw… I have never actually seen this product with a ceramic screw. I saw the implant in Zurich Switzerland at a conference for Ceramic Implants in 2019. At this meeting, the system required a titanium screw, and the ceramic screw was not available even in Europe at that time…
