question: I have a dark gray line that has developed between my bottom 2 teeth this past year. It actually looks to be on one tooth, like a crack. bleaching does not make it lighter. what could it be?

Answer: If the stain is actually on the tooth, it is possible that there is a deep crack on your tooth. A crack that goes deep into enamel or even the dentin layer of the tooth, keeps the stain in a way that not easily reachable by whitening gels. The only way to remove the line in such a case is restoring the tooth by composite fillings and or veneers and may be a crown if the crack is large and deep.
